Meet the Team
Catherine Bottrill
Pilio Co-Founder & Chief Executive
Catherine has a wealth of expertise in energy policy, energy efficiency, technology and behaviour change having worked in the field for over 10-years. Whilst a researcher at the University of Oxford’s Environmental Change Institute Catherine co-invented with Dr. Russell Layberry sMeasure and iMeasure software products. Catherine is completing a doctorate from University of Surrey on the response of the UK music industry to climate change (2011/12). In addition, for the past 4-years Catherine has been the Director of Research for Julie’s Bicycle, a non-profit company, working with the creative industries on environmental sustainability. She holds a Masters in Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies. Catherine enjoys pulling across the connections between people, places and interests to achieve common goals. In her free time Catherine can be found in a festival field or on an adventure with her family and friends.
She leads the business development of Pilio’s products and services in the UK and US markets.
Dr Russell Layberry
Pilio Co-Founder
Russell has extensive expertise of energy use in commercial and residential buildings. He brings cutting-edge technical insights of energy measurement, benchmarking, analysis and targeting. Russell created the heating and cooling dataset used in sMeasure. He has 20 years experience as a computational physicist and for the past 7-years he has been a Senior Research Fellow with the Environmental Change Institute. He holds a Doctorate in Plasma Physics from Aston University. Russell believes in making information available and transparent so people can make the most informed decisions. When not energy modelling Russell enjoys exploring his favourite valleys in the Himalayas and rural Spain.
He leads the technical development of the scientific innovations underpinning Pilio’s products and services.
sMeasure Team
We are an experienced and enthusiastic team who work closely with our customers and partners to ensure low cost energy saving opportunities are maximised and capital investment decisions are informed by a strong understanding of the building's energy use.
Annah Todman, Head of Marketing and Sales
Annah has been with the sMeasure for two-years in an advisory and marketing capacity bringing her extensive expertise in online product development and website management. She has worked in the marketing arena for some 16-years. She applies a multi-disciplined approach in marketing and sales. In the past 7-years Annah’s has worked for a variety companies and clients to deliver successful online marketing strategies and campaigns. Annah recently moved to Southern Wales and very much enjoying it!
Annah will be leading the marketing and sales strategy as sMeasure moves from a research project to a commercial offer.
Alex Yudin – Customer Support
Alex has worked on the sMeasure technical team for over 1 year. He supports sMeasure software users, helping them with technical queries and getting the most out of their results so they can maximise the opportunities available to them to save energy, carbon and money. Alex is completing a Masters degree in Physics from the University of Oxford. Alex is an avid sailor and also help lead a local Boy Scouts group in Oxford.
Alex will be on hand to support any of our customers using our software products.
Campbell Allen – Lead Software Developer
Campbell sMeasure's lead software developer with more than 10-years programming experience. He has been working sMeasure for over a year taking over from Westbarn Studios. Campbell is building sMeasure to be robust, scalable and flexible system. He works with our other contracted software programmers to ensure the components they are building seamlessly integrate with the main application. Campell moved to Oxford from Australia 18-months ago – apart from the patchy weather and missing the waves he is enjoying life in the UK.
Cam will be leading the programme development as the functionality of sMeasure extends.
