Energy Monitoring for Schools

The National Framework for Sustainable Schools

The Government would like every school to be a sustainable school by 2020. Currently English schools emit an estimated 8.5 million tonnes of carbon dioxide each year. That’s around 15 per cent of public-sector emissions and 2 per cent of the national total. Schools are ideally placed to take a lead within communities to help reduce carbon emissions.

sMeasure is a free online energy monitoring tool that will provide your school with:

  • Clear insights for saving energy, reducing carbon emissions and cutting your bill
  • Support in the classroom with interesting and practical 4 lesson plans and programme
  • Extra resources for further lesson planning

sMeasure can help support your participation in the Eco-Schools programme. Eco-Schools is an award programme that guides schools in becoming more sustainable places to learn, and in the process helps children gain a ‘hands-on’ view of sustainability issues. There are almost 15,000 schools registered in the UK and internationally 40,000 schools across 46 countries. Energy monitoring with sMeasure will help your school audit its environmental impact and develop its action plan for making improvements. Learn more about Eco-Schools

“We have found sMeasure very useful and it was just one thing in our favour when applying for our Green Flag Award which we got just before the end of term. My husband does our domestic values too on imeasure. We find it all most illuminating - keep at it.”
